Richard asked her to sing background vocals on ED's new CD |
Richard Marx has worked with so many music artists throughout his years as a musician,
and he never ceases to amaze his fans and the fans of other artists. Any musical talent that has been graced by Richards music,
is quite lucky, for one, fans of Richard's will stop at nothing to get their hands on anything he has done, whether it's writing
lyrics for a singer/group, or producing their album, we'll will buy it! And two, because he is so talented in his artistry
of writing music and lyrics, it blows me, and many others, away!
Richard with Emerson Drive |

|
This was the first time Richard produced for Emerson Drive. He had received an advanced copy of their CD, and was amazed
by their vocals, and over-all musical talent, so he asked them to stop by for lunch at his home in Chicago. They did, and
Richard heard the song "Fall Into Me" and was blown away, he said he wanted to produce it for them, even though the CD was
due out in two days. They were in the studio the next day, making the single, and it was added to the CD.

This photo was taken in February of 2003. Richard is currently working with Emerson Drive in the studio. He is producing
their entire album, due out at the end of this year.

He is obviously producing one of their songs in the picture!!! |
Here Richard is producing the vocals for Emerson Drive.... or they could just be goofing off, but lets assume they are
hard at work! If you like Emerson Drive, or Richard Marx, be sure to check out their new album coming out at the end of 2003!
It is going to be amazing.
Richard Marx with Kenny Rogers and David Cole |

|
Working with Kenny in Nashville |
Richard has worked with Kenny Rogers many times, for example, he wrote the song "Crazy" for one of Kenny's earlier CD's.
And now they are back at it again!
Richard with *NSYNC |

|
In the studio with *NSYNC, working on, "This I Promise You" |
Richard wrote and produced the hit, "This I Promise You" for *NSYNC. It was originally written for three latino singers,
but their dad was very controlling and told Richard to "butt-out" so he did. Then he got a call from *NSYNC's managers asking
him if he had anything that would suit *NSYNC, he said he did and he sent them the demo of "This I Promise You." The guys
loved it, but the managers said that their producers would be producing it. A few days later, he received a call saying that
the guys personally requested him to produce it for them. Richard agreed and flew to Florida where they produced it in two
days. Justin and Richard stayed up til two in the morning, singing the song over and over, while reciting lines from "The
Godfather." Richard said that *NSYNC is a very talented group. He went in very skeptical. Thought that they were just another
"put together" boyband, but discovered that they had so much more talent then he ever imagined. He then went on to say that
it was the best producing experience he has ever had, and that the guys are very hard-working young men."
Richard and JC Chasez from *NSYNC |

JC said that Richard Marx was one of his idols growing up, so it was an honor to work with him. |
Richard had to go pick up his son from school while JC was visiting him at his house and JC rode with him. I'm not sure
if his son likes *NSYNC, but I bet many kids thought it was pretty cool!

Working with *NSYNC was his best producing experience ever... the words of Richard Marx |
Some of the members of *NSYNC were asked about what their favorite song
was on the CD that they were releasing, which was "No Strings Attached" back in 2000, and here are their answers.
Lance Bass: There's a song called "Promise" that Richard Marx
did - it's my favorite ballad. Then there's the song JC wrote called "Space Cowboy." It's all about the
millennium type thing. You've never heard this type of style of music ever. It's just funky and edgy. It's
like a chant type song.
Joey Fatone: "Space Cowboy" is really good. The one
with Richard Marx, "Promise" is really, really, really good. Very diverse. [The] Richard Marx [one] is a slow
ballad. I have to go with both of those.
Justin Timberlake: It's hard to say. There are a lot of good songs
on the album. There are so, many different flavors. We have "Promise," which is the most beautiful
ballad I think I've ever heard. Um, "Space Cowboy," which JC did, is just something a little bit different.
I wrote a song called "Good For You." It's all live instruments, there's no synthesizer. There are so many different
feels on the album. I don't know. When you guys hear it, I want you to tell me what your favorite is. It's
hard to choose. You hear one you and you think, "Wow that's good," and then you hear one and you're like, "Wow sounds
good but it's something totally different."
So obviously the ballad struck a chord with the guys and it is beautiful!
Richard Marx and Chely Wright |

|
Richard and Chely on stage at a benefit. |
Richard said the writing experience he had with Chely was the best he has ever had in the sense of it being a true duet.
He said that it was the most dual writing he has ever done. They both co-wrote the song and in detail. One of them would think
of a line, and then the other one would come up with the following line. Sometimes they were stuck and would sit there for
quite sometime. One of them would go to the bathroom and come back and be like, "I have the perfect line!" They both had there
hands on the steering wheel, no "one" person took over. It was the definition of "Duet."
Richard Marx and Chely Wright |

At a benefit in Nashville. |
Richard Marx and Chely Wright co-wrote and sang a song called "Edge of Forever" that was a track for his "Days In Avalon"
CD. It's a beautiful song with wonderful lyrics. I'm not sure their voices are superb together, but it's still a great song!!
Then they did a benefit together, which is the performance you see in the pictures, they are singing a duet on Richard's most
well-known song "Right Here Waiting."
Richard Marx and Olivia Newton John |

|
Richard and Olivia backstage... they are good friends. |
Richard and Olivia just recently worked together. They sang a duet together on Olivia's 2002 release. They didn't have
much time to record the song, so studio time was limited. Therefore, it isn't of the best quality that Richard has done, nor
Olivia. I personally do not like the duet, Olivia ruins it to me, but that's just ONE opinion out of many. There voices don't
really flow well together, and she drowns him out more often than not. But check it out anyway! you may like it. Richard did
say that he thinks Olivia is a very talented and good woman, and he respects her a lot.
Richard Marx and David Foster |

|
At a Benefit. Richard and David have produced many songs together, and continue to do so. |
Richard and David Foster are very good friends and they have worked closely together and still do. Producing several
hits as a duo, they have grown more and more through watching each other work. David Foster produced Josh Groban's self-titled
CD. Man can he recognize talent! Richard wrote the music to one of the songs called "To Where you Are." It's become a big
hit, and Josh is just one of many artists that they have collaborated with, in producing or writing songs. Richard tells in
detail, "I just got back from LA where I produced a young 18 year old opera singer named
Josh Groban. It's a song called "To Where You Are" which I co-wrote with Linda Thompson, who wrote "I Have Nothing" for Whitney
Houston. I recorded the song with a 70 piece orchestra. He's signed to David Foster's 143 label." On top of that, David
Foster has worked with Richard on many of his songs also. They make a very good team! They also teamed up to write and produce
a song called "I Will." Chris Kirkpatrick recorded it. Richard says, "I just wrote a song with David Foster and his wife,
Linda Thompson called, "I Will." David and I co-produced it. It was recorded by Chris Kirkpatrick from *NSYNC and will be
released in S.E. Asia and parts of Europe in the fall. It is from a compilation CD of Foster's biggest hits as a producer
including hits by Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire." And just a little tidbit of Richard's
personal life: David introduced him to his now wife, Cynthia Rhodes, and his best friend, Fee Waybill.
Richard and Rick Springfield |

|
In the studio |
Richard has written a few songs for Rick, and they have always worked together several times. They've become pretty good
friends over the years.
Richard Marx and Billy Joel |

|
Performing on stage together "Live" this was back in the day, look at his hair! |
Richard and Billy Joel are very good friends. Richard did a rendition of Billy Joel's "Miami 2017". He said learning
the piano part to that song was one of the hardest things he has ever done! He plays it beautifully though. There was also
a time, where they were doing this t.v special, "Tribute to Billy Joel" and Richard performed on it. Billy had asked him not
too, because he said it was cheesy, but Richard insisted because he has so much respect for him, and so he did.
Richard Marx and Kenny Loggins |

|
They too, are very close friends, here they are performing together. |
Richard and Kenny have worked together numerous times. The most recent music-making that they did together is on Kenny's
latest album. In 2002, Richard said, "Kenny Loggins and I have written 4 songs, with more in the works, for Kenny's upcoming
CD. Kenny has been a favorite artist of mine since my teenage years, and has certainly influenced my singing and writing.
We're good pals, and I'm thrilled we're working together."
Richard Marx and Luther Vandross |

|
Richard has worked with Luther man times , Luther sang back up on Richard's "Paid Vacation" CD. |
Richard and Luther are very close friends. Luther sang background vocals on several of Richard's CD's. They have
done everything together, even gone shopping!! In Richard's liner notes on his "Paid Vacation" CD, he says, "Luther, if you
ever get tired of your voice, could you give it to me?!" and in his liner notes on his "Flesh and Bone" CD, Richard says,
"Thanks for Wrestlemania 43. Thanks for being my pal, and thanks, but i'm never going shopping with you ever again!" It's
obvious they are good friends, and work closely together. Hopefully they'll team up again, and soon!
Richard Marx, David Cole, and Michael Bolton |

|
In the studio working together on a song Richard wrote for Michael. |
Richard has written and produced songs for Michael Bolton many times. Richard said, "Michael
Bolton came to Chicago to write with me for his new album. He's just signed to Jive ('N Sync's label) and is hard at work
on new music. I've known Michael for years, and I'm honored he asked to write with me. We've been very creative, and have
laughed hysterically. Hopefully, you'll find the results of our craziness together on Michael's Jive debut next year. This
guy is an amazing singer and we're having a blast."
Richard Marx and SHeDaisy |

|
Richard Marx has written and produced a song called "All Over You" for the group. |
Richard on working with SHeDaisy, "I met Kristyn, Kassidy and Kelsi Osborn in early
'99. I was in Nashville writing and went to their record company offices. I'd never even heard them sing, but was told they
were great and was asked if I'd consider co-writing something with Kristyn for their debut album. At the meeting, instead
of playing me a demo tape, they sang live in the office for me. I remember they sang, "Little Goodbyes" and 2 others. I was
blown away. And they were all BEAUTIFUL!!!!! They also seemed incredibly nice so I signed up on the spot. About a month later
I went back to Nashville where Kristyn and I met at the ASCAP offices. We wrote a ballad called, "Still Holding Out For You"
and went to Bruce Gaitsch's home studio the next day to demo it. I was so impressed with their vocal arrangements and they
sang their little butts off. The demo is almost identical to the record, but the album needed a great country producer, and
Dann Huff (who also produced "Amazed" for Lonestar) did a great job on the whole "SheBang." The album, The Whole SheBang
just went platinum, and our song is slated to be a single in the fall. Kristyn and I have written another song for their
upcoming Christmas CD, and have become good pals. The girls were kind enough last October to guest at The Dick Marx Foundation
benefit concert in Chicago, and they were incredible. They're here for the long haul."
Richard Marx and Kristyn Osborn |

|
Richard in the studio with Kristyn, working on a song they wrote together. |
Richard wrote a song called "All Over You" for the country music group, SHeDaisy.
In November 2001, Richard said, "SHeDaisy has recorded a new song written by Kristyn Osborn and myself for their new
CD which should be out next spring, as well."
And always a man to give a group that he likes "props," Richard said, "Brand
New Year is the most original, adventurous, and cool Christmas CD I've ever heard."
