Richard wrote the song "Hazard" on the back of his tour bus in '89. He wasn't even going to put it on a cd, but his wife promised to publicly pants him, if he didn't. So he did. He said it was the weirdest song he has ever written, and was very surprised at how well it did on the charts. He couldn't figure out, why a story set in rural Nebraska, became such a big hit, but he was glad he released it. It can be found on the Rush Street cd. He then made this video for it's release, and it is the most ellaborate video he has done, with a great storyline and wonderful actors. Robert Conrad, a friend of the family, played the sherriff that interrogated Richard about how he was involved with Mary. He blamed Richard for her death, though the song nor the video ever reveals the answer. Richard says, "forget about it."

Richard's dad, Dick Marx, wrote several jingles for commercials, that were huge hits. He was very involved with Richard as a musician and as Richard put it "graced" his songs, with many things he composed. He was quickly taken from this world when he got in a car accident in '98. Dick Marx made appearances in many of his videos, but oddly enough, he was not in this one. He just wanted to be there with his son while he made this amazing video. To the left is his mother, who is still alive. If you have ever heard the song "Thanks To You" Richard wrote it for her, as a mothers day gift. It's beautiful. Richard also wrote a song called "Straight From My Heart" for his dad, which he released as a single off of his "Days In Avalon" cd.

Actor, Robert Conrad, has been friends of the Marx family for quite some time. He played the "Sheriff" that accused Richard of killing Mary, played by actress, Jennifer O'Neill , in the video. Its an awesome video, check it out!

Richard and Robert once again. Richard said that he doesn't like the fact that Robert looks younger than him in this picture! I say Richard does look a little sleepy, but he still looks good!
